Board of Directors

Tom Anderson, BLADC President
Tom Anderson, CEO of Minnesota Thermal Science, is a Brainerd Lakes area native and returned to the community approximately twenty years ago. Prior to joining Minnesota Thermal Science, he was the president at Hunt Technologies and COO for Universal Pensions and then served as an executive vice president for Bisys. Tom is a CPA and has served on a number of local boards including the YMCA, Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce and St. Joseph's Medical Center.

Bruce Buxton, BLADC Vice President
Bruce Buxton is CEO of Widseth Smith Nolting, Brainerd. Originally from Walker Minnesota, he has been in the Brainerd area for over 25 years. He has been active in several local organizations and charities including Boy Scouts of America Pine Tree District and Troop 43, the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life, and the Brainerd Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce.  He and his wife, Kathy, have two sons, Scott and Jeff. He enjoys his work, golf, fishing and hunting in his spare time.

Angella D. Roby, BLADC Secretary/Treasurer
Angella is commissioner of finance for the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. Prior to joining the Band government, she worked as a certified public accountant for 13 years, auditing and consulting in the manufacturing, governmental and non-profit areas. She has served on committees on behalf of the AICPA and is past president and chair of the board of the Sunrise Sertoma Club. Angella enjoys spending time with her family along with golf and racquetball.

Kevin T. Larson, BLADC Past President
Kevin Larson is general manager of Consolidated Telephone Company and its subsidiary, MicroNet Business Systems. He is a member of the board of directors of the Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce and the Minnesota Telephone Association, and currently serves on the board of directors of two privately held companies. When he’s not working or volunteering, he enjoys boating, golfing, and spending time with his family.
Terry McCollough, Brainerd Daily Dispatch
Terry is publisher of The Brainerd Daily Dispatch and is a native of the Brainerd area. He has been involved in a host of volunteer activities over the past 35 years, most recently as chair of the board of St. Joseph’s Medical Center. He and his wife Mary live on Sylvan Lake and have three adult children. When not working, Terry can be found on a variety of area golf courses.

Charles (Chuck) D. Albrecht
Chuck Albrecht is president/CEO at Mid-Minnesota Federal Credit Union. He has served in a variety of volunteer positions for several area organizations including the Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce, the North Central Economic Development Association, MCBI Christian Radio, St. Joseph's Medical Center and the Central Minnesota Boy Scouts of America. He is also a member of the Brainerd Kiwanis Club.

Tom Prusak, St. Joseph's Medical Center
Tom Prusak is President/CEO of St. Joseph's Medical Center.  He has served in this capacity since 1990.  Tom is employed by the Benedictine Health System a multi-state, not-for-profit healthcare system headquartered in Minnesota, sponsored by the Benedictine sisters of the St. Scholastica Monastery.  Prior to joining BHS, Tom was President/CEO of Bay Area Medical Center.  He was responsible for leading the merger and consolidation of the two hospitals located in Menominee, Michigan and Marinette, Wisconsin.  Tom is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and is actively involved in the policy and advocacy role of the Minnesota Hospital Association.  Tom and his wife, Martha, have three children, Mara, Allison and Michael.

Kevin Close, Close Converse Commercial & Preferred Properties
Kevin is Owner/Broker of Close Converse Commercial & Preferred Properties. He has been assisting buyers and seller in commercial real estate transactions for over twenty-five years. Kevin is a member of the Upper-Midwest CCIM organization (Certified Commercial Investment Member), and also serves with the Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation and is on the Board of Directors for Kinship Partners.
Paul Means, RiverWood Bank
Paul Means is Chairman and Director of RiverWood Bank, a community bank with offices in Baxter and Crosslake. He has 33 years of banking experience and is a graduate of Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, as well as a the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. He has served in a variety of volunteer positions and is the past president of the Brainerd Family YMCA. Paul and his family have lived in Brainerd for over 15 years and they enjoy all of the wonderful amenities that the Brainerd Lakes has to offer.

Ray Burnett
Ray Burnett recently retired after twenty-three years as president and chief executive officer of Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union. He was one of the original founders of BLADC and served on its board for seventeen years. He has over thirty years of experience in local volunteer positions, including the city of Brainerd Charter Commission, the city of Brainerd Planning and Zoning Committee, the Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce Board, and the board of directors of Kinship Partners.

  Conrad Bye
Conrad Bye is president of Communications Investments, Inc. Throughout his career he has held a variety of senior level positions and has served on the boards of the Brainerd YMCA, North Central Economic Development, the American Cable Association and Rotary International, for whom he also served as past president. He is a member and past vice-chair of the Nisswa Planning and Zoning Commission.
  Timothy Bergin
Timothy Bergin is a principal at Larson Allen, Weishair and Co. and is responsible for delivery of accounting, auditing, tax and business advisory services to clients in the health care industry as well as other closely held business. His experience in the accounting and financial markets provides valuable insight for BLADC and the local business community. He has held a variety of local volunteer positions with area organizations including the Brainerd Lakes Area Rotary Club, the Junior Rotarian Program, Round Lake Association, and Junior Achievement.
  Reggie Clow
Reggie Clow is president and part owner of Clow Stamping Company in Merrifield. Since moving to the area in 1974, he has been actively involved in various volunteer activities and is past president of the Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce and past chair of the occupation skills program at Central Lakes College. He and his wife Cindy have two children, Nica and Gabriel. He enjoys boating, golf, motorcycling, and working in his yard.
 

Tom Green
Tom Green has been a long time resident of the Brainerd Lakes Area and currently serves as Vice President of Finance for Mills Fleet Farm. He served on the board of directors at BLADC for fifteen years.

  Jim Kraft
Jim Kraft is president and CEO of Northern National Bank, with offices in Baxter, Brainerd, Nisswa and Crosslake. He has 25 years of banking experience and has been actively involved in community programs and activities. He is past president of BLADC and the co-founder of the Pequot Lakes Area Development Organization. In his spare time he enjoys hunting, fishing, family and school activities.
  Arnie Johnson
Arnie Johnson is the owner of Johnson Enterprises LLC. He is the founder and former CEO and chair of Universal Pensions, Inc., a nationally recognized retirement services company, which he sold in 2001. He was a founder of BLADC and served as its president for two years and on its board for another two years. He is a member of the board of directors for Bremer Bank, the board of trustees for the College of St. Scholastica, the foundation board for Central Lakes College, and is a partner in Lake Country Synergic LLC.
  Paul Lindbloom
Paul Lindbloom recently retired after twenty-three years as president and CEO of Acrometal Companies, Inc., which includes the firms of AcroTech, Atek, Acrometal, and Larco. He currently serves as a consultant for Acrometal Management Corporation. Over the years, he has held board positions on numerous local organizations, including St Joseph Medical Center, Brainerd Lakes Area Chambers of Commerce, City of Brainerd EDA. BLADC, Kids Voting of Minnesota, Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, Benedictine Health System, Brainerd AVTI Foundation and Bremer Bank Brainerd. He is a current member the Brainerd Rotary Club.
  Clint Nelson
Clint Nelson is a real estate broker and co-owner of Positive GMAC Real Estate in Brainerd. Since starting the company in 1979 he has participated in a variety of community and economic development organizations, clubs, and initiatives, and is past president of BLADC. In his spare time he enjoys fishing, down hill skiing and snowmobiling.
 

John Newhouse
John Newhouse is president of Lakeland Mold Company, Brainerd. He was involved in the early 1990's with establishing the business and marketing plan for Advantage Minnesota, a nonprofit corporation formed to market the state of Minnesota to potential businesses. He is on the Brainerd/Baxter Business Council and chair of the Boy Scouts Pine Tree District.

 

Terry Skone
Terry Skone is the former owner and president of the First National Bank of Deerwood (now Deerwood Bank) and has long been active in numerous organizations and community initiatives, including BLADC, Cuyuna Range Economic Development Incorporated, Rotary, and Central Lakes College Foundation. He divides his time between his home in Deerwood, where he serves on the board of directors of Deerwood Bank, and his residence in Marco Island, Florida, where he is involved in a new start-up bank.
