Highway
Several major state highway systems converge in the Brainerd Lakes Area, providing easy access to and from the Twin Cities, Duluth, Fargo/Moorhead and smaller communities. All interstate highways, US highways and the following of the state highway systems in and around Brainerd/Baxter are 10-ton roads: (MN 371, 210, 169, 18 and 25). County road seasonal load limits vary. Visit the MN Department of Transportation for the latest updates on central Minnesota road construction projects.

Common carrier truck service is provided by TCBX, Inc., Midwest Motor Express, GMW and Consolidated Freight Lines. Parcel Service is provided by Jefferson Lines, Federal Express, United Parcel Service, Express Mail (USPS) and RPS.

Air
The Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport offers a 6,500' paved runway with a lighted, instrumental landing systems and navigational aids (BEACON,DME, ILS, VOR/DME). Weather information systems are provided by: AWOSA/MNWAS, PUBLICTV, SATVIDEOWEATHER, SAWRS. Commercial air service is provided by Mesaba/Northwest Airlines. Charter services and maintenance facilities are also available for personal aircraft. The airport is also currently benefiting from a major expansion - offering a second runway
.

Rail
The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation provides direct rail service daily. The cities of Baxter and Brainerd have industrial-zoned property abutting the rail line. Amtrak service is also available out of Staples, about 30 minutes west of Brainerd.

Port Facilities
In addition, the port of Duluth and access to the St. Lawrence Seaway is approximately two hours away.
